At The Businesses Community Enfield, we love to get to know the people behind the businesses and find out more about who they are and what they do.

Bridgette Mansfield took up our challenge of “5 Questions We Asked An Enfield Business” so we can get to know her better…

What made you start your own business?

I decided to become a Hypnotherapist and HypnoBirthing educator after the birth of my second son. I had wonderful experiences with both my sons but at that time, I had not heard of Hypnobirthing until I read about it afterwards and realised that during birthing my sons, I was in a state of hypnosis without even knowing it!

I felt so empowered by the whole experience, I wanted to be able to share the knowledge and make other women aware that birthing is not always accompanied by excruciating pain. I am enthusiastic and passionate about HypnoBirthing techniques and want to help mothers achieve a more natural, calm and joyful birthing experience that they can look back at with great memories. I believe in educating yourself so that you can have the best possible experience for you and your baby on the day, whether you have a natural birth or a medically assisted one.   I therefore decided to train in hypnotherapy and then hypnobirthing.

What does your business offer its customers?

I successfully use hypnosis to treat clients for a wide range of problems – providing hypnotherapy for fears and phobias, hypnotherapy for addictions to alcohol, smoking or gambling, plus hypnosis to improve confidence at work, public speaking or social situations and relationships.

I trained with some of the best hypnotherapists in the country – the longest serving Hypnobirthing practitioner from the Hypnobirthing Institute in the USA (Steve Griffiths) and Hypnotic Solutions hypnotherapist Brian Jacobs (who trained with Paul McKenna).  I am also certified and recognised as a qualified hypnotherapist by the General Hypnotherapy Register, the largest hypnotherapy organisation in the UK.  I was a member of the Hypnobirthing Institute and a licensed Hypno-Band® practitioner.  I am also trained in The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme using hypnosis techniques to help pregnant women have the best possible birthing experience for them and their babies.

What kind of customers are you looking for?

I am also extremely passionate about how hypnotherapy can help with all kinds of problems especially hypnosis for stopping smoking, weight control hypnotherapy, hypnotherapy for anxiety, habits, insomnia, fears & phobias and hypnobirthing and I am confident that my services can help.

I am approachable and non-judgemental and believe that my client only need tell me as much as they feel comfortable with.  Most of the hypnotherapy work is done in your own head with your own thoughts.  My aim is to help you change the negative thought / behaviour / habit into a positive one using well established hypnosis techniques.

What’s the toughest part of running your own business?

Toughest part of my job is marketing my business….I just don’t enjoy it!

What piece of advice could you give to another business owner?

My advice to anyone deciding whether to start up their own business is to just go for it.  The worst thing would be to get to 100 years old and regret that you didn’t take the risk!!
